somebody had a nice, chilly fall morning ride
on Sunday over my neighborhood. my doors
and windows were shut, it was around 8:30 a.m.
and i heard the familiar 'whoooooooosh' of the hot-air
balloon flame.
of course i ran out there with my camera!

{{{{Phinney}}}} Very cool picture! One of these days, I'd loooooove to take a hot air balloon ride! They do them out in Steamboat Springs, CO where my mom has a condo & I always thought it would be neat to do ~ floating quietly over the Rocky Mountains.

Looks like a fragile bubble of gauze floating up there so high above, and eerily lit! Very pretty. XO

I miss living in Southington watching the hot air balloons go over. I would never go up in one, but I have gone in one that was tethered to the ground. That fire is HOT and right next to your hair!! YIKES!

Last time I heard that woosh, I ran out to see they barely made it over our house and got stuck on the fence over near the bridge. Had to help push them over so they could land in that field, and then wait for someone from the town/GE let them out. Hah. Too darn cold up there to keep afloat properly!
I don't recall ever seeing a real live hot air balloon. Pretty cool stuff.
